[Secret Series]: The Secret to Healthy and Clear Skin is...

When I was a teenager and a college student, I never had massive issues with acne. Of course, I had my fair share of hormonal and stress acne but nothing too extreme that required me to use certain acne products.


I felt inspired to write this blog post because my skin suffers the most during winter time. Since we're technically still in winter, I thought it would be a good idea for me to share some skincare tips and advices.

Drink Water 

My most obvious tip is to drink water every day. That's truly one of the most natural and easiest ways to maintain healthy skin! You'll be surprise to see how much your skin can change if you cut off soda, sugary drinks, and/or dairy products 😉.

Saturday Skin Refining Peel Gel (pink bottle)

My skin feels like a baby's bottom after I use this product. This gel has finely milled grains that's soft and gentle on the skin. I'm not kidding when I say this product is truly life changing. It works AMAZING around my chin area, which is generally my “problem” area. Since using this product for over a year, my (stubborn) chin acne scars has healed significantly!

Tinted Moisturizer & BB Cream

I stopped using foundation because it's too heavy on my skin and I break out easily too. That’s why I opt for BB cream and/or tinted moisturizer. So when I discovered Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer, I knew it was going to be my favorite product. It feels light on my skin and it gives me an even coverage. However, this product is very light and not buildable friendly. Which means if you apply too many layers, it gets cakey.

For an affordable option, my go-to for the past 6 years has been Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream Skin Clearing Perfector. It's light to (buildable) medium coverage which is perfect for anyone who likes more coverage! Unfortunately, there's only 3 shade options for this product, which is super unfortunate because it’s truly an amazing product 😭😢.

Face Oil 

The Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Overnight Face Oil is probably the best product that I discovered to help with my dry skin. I swear by this product that it really helps rejuvenate my skin while reducing redness around my cheek! As you can see in this picture, I've used almost all of the product!

Let Your Skin Breathe 

I love wearing make up as much as the next person however, it's important to dedicate a few days to let your skin breathe. There are some weeks where I wear minimal to no make up. Instantly, I see positive changes to my skin. Similar to drinking water, it’s an effortless and easy tip to getting clearer skin. If you're someone who has to wear make up every day, opt for a natural look every now and then.

Patience 

Unfortunately, great skin does not happen over night. It takes time for your skin to recover no matter how many treatments and products you use. Here's a short story time: When I was in high school, I had bad chin acne. It was to the point where I had deep purple acne scars because my chin was breaking out really bad. Like the teenager that I was (lol), I definitely did not take care of my chin like I should! This was also around the time where I started learning about skincare. Within 5-6 months, my chin acne reduced significantly. Through my college years, I discovered new products for my skin (like the Saturday Skin gel that I mentioned earlier) that made the most impact for my skin. As you can see, my chin recovery did not happen overnight. I had to learn what product(s) worked and didn't work for my skin. Soooo this leads me to my NUMBER ONE skincare tip...

Understand Your Skin Type 

Of everything that I wrote today, I hope this is the tip that you will consider the most. It's sooo important for you to understand what works and doesn't work for your skin. That simple moisturizer change or choosing the right face mask can do wonders for your skin. Also it's important to remember that as you age or go through different changes in your body, your skin will (probably) change too. What worked for my teenage years does not work for my 20s. 90% of the products I use now I did not use when I was in high school. I wouldn't be surprised if I made some modifications on my skincare when I reach my 30s. Obviously, this is a case-by-case situation but you get the general idea 😊.

[K-Drama Review] Melting Me Softly

Melting Me Softly caught my attention a few months ago. I decide to give this drama a chance in late November. After I finished the drama, I knew I had to write a review on it because I had some mix feelings about it.
